Woman In Critical Condition After Being Struck By Hit-And-Run Driver In Queens

Nabeela Aziz was about to cross a Bayside intersection with her family when an SUV barreled around the corner and knocked her off her feet.
The Queens intersection where a motorist hit a woman crossing the street with her family, leaving her in critical condition.
A woman was preparing to cross a Queens street on Tuesday night when a driver barreled around the corner and slammed into her. The driver sped off, leaving the woman behind in the street with her husband and daughter, who were not struck.
According to the NYPD, the victim—47-year-old Nabeela Aziz—was standing at the intersection of 64th Avenue and 223rd Place just before 11 p.m. when the driver of a white Dodge Durango allegedly sped up 223rd Place. The SUV's driver struck Aziz while turning onto 64th, hitting her hard enough that they "sent her flying down the street" and knocked the necklace off her neck, CBS New York reports.
The driver did not stop to see if she was okay, but reportedly continued along at 40 to 50 mph, according to her family. When EMS arrived on the scene, they transported Aziz to North Shore University Hospital, where she is in critical condition.

Police offered no description of the suspect, outside the car's model. According to CBS, Aziz's husband chased the speeding car, but couldn't catch up.
"I hope they really catch this person, whoever it is. Because the way I feel right now about the person—it's pretty inhumane," Aziz's son, Tamoor Tariq, told CBS. "He hit my mom and just ran off without even checking if she's fine or not. Didn't even call the police, he just ran away. So I really do hope they catch him." (We don't currently know the driver's gender.)
Tariq added that his mother had been bleeding inside her skull, and that she had sustained some brain damage because of the collision.
