A 29-year-old woman was arrested Saturday on charges of driving while intoxicated and without a license after police said she collided with a moped driver in Brooklyn who died in the crash.

NYPD officials said Sheepshead Bay resident Leslie Moreno was charged early Saturday following the crash at Third Avenue and 67th Street in Bay Ridge around 4:45 a.m. Police said she collided in her 2013 Acura TSX with Sunset Park resident Joel Mota, 22, who was driving a moped with a 21-year-old passenger aboard.

Moreno was driving west on 67th Street while Mota was driving south on Third Avenue, and he hit her passenger-side door, officials said. Mota sustained serious injuries to his head and torso and was taken to NYU Langone Hospital–Brooklyn, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said Mota lived less than a half-mile from the crash site. The 21-year-old passenger, also a man who was taken to the same hospital, sustained multiple fractures to his left arm and leg.

Attorney information for Moreno was not immediately available Sunday. Police said she went to NYU Langone in stable condition after the collision.

NYPD data shows there were nearly 80 traffic deaths citywide as of June 15, down 33% from the same point last year. Thirteen of those deaths were of riders of motorized two-wheelers, including mopeds, while the majority were of pedestrians.
