The FDNY says some of the injured were children, but it's not clear how many.
[UPDATES BELOW] A huge tree came down in Central Park this morning, injuring several people, according to the FDNY.
A spokesperson with the FDNY told Gothamist the tree fell at around 10 a.m., near 61st Street and Central Park South. Four people were seriously hurt, the spokesperson said, and were taken to New York Cornell Hospital. The FDNY says some of the injured were children, but it's not clear how many. The critical patient is an adult, according to an FDNY spokesperson on the scene.

"Crews have mobilized immediately to clear the tree and investigate the incident," Parks Department spokesperson Sam Biederman told Gothamist in a statement.
Witnesses say a woman was trapped underneath the tree when it fell:

Upper West Side resident Jaki Johnsen came upon the scene while biking in the park this morning, and told Gothamist a man in front of her witnessed the crash. "He said, it just snapped, you heard it crack and it just fell over. It took two seconds. It happened really fast," she said. Johnsen said she saw an injured woman get taken away in an ambulance.
"I think she had three kids. She looked okay. She was talking when she went into the ambulance, they had to go and chainsaw her out, and they put her in the ambulance and she was talking," Johnsen said.
The NYPD says to watch for road closures in the area.

We will update as more information becomes available.
Additional reporting by Scott Heins, Aidan Gardiner and Ben Fractenberg.
Update 11:25 a.m.: The NYPD has confirmed the injured persons were a 39-year-old woman and three children, though ages for the children were not available, and it's unclear how many were her children. All suffered non life-threatening injuries, according to police. It's not yet clear why the tree fell.
Update 12:51 p.m.: Officer Joseph Tomeo said he and three other police officers were on horses in the park when the tree fell. “We saw the tree fall,” he said. "We saw a large crowd of people. We saw a lot of people running toward the tree. We knew somebody was underneath there by the way everybody was reacting. We rode over to the scene as fast and safely as possible. When we got down there we secured the horses, made sure the horses were safe and secure and we got in to the three and requested EMS, request FD, request Emergency Services to respond, to assist the scene."
He added, "[The injured woman] was conscious when we first got there. The children already with other people. Other civilians removed the children before we got there. One of the other officers rounded up all the children, stayed with the children in the ambulance.”
"'[The mother] was saying, ‘What happened? What happened?’" he said.
The Parks Department says the felled tree, along with all other trees in the park, are maintained by the Central Park Conservancy, which did not immediately respond to request for comment.
