UPDATE: NYPD Investigating Pit Bull Puppy Larceny

An adorable pit bull puppy was stolen while on a walk with its owner last week, and police are searching for a woman who was allegedly "spotted fleeing with the dog." UPDATE: The puppy was reunited with its owners; more details below.

The NYPD says that around 11:15 a.m. on May 6th, the dog's owner, a 42-year-old man, was walking near Jerome Avenue and East 190th Street in the Bronx with a baby stroller when the puppy "jumped out of" the stroller's bottom basket.

The owner, who had been walking with his wife and their small child, didn't realize the dog was missing until later. According to the NYPD, "a subsequent investigation determined that an unidentified female was observed fleeing with the dog in a white BMW southbound on Jerome Avenue."

Police released an image of the dog (above) and shared footage of a woman wanted for questioning for the larceny, describing her as 20-25 years old and last seen wearing a pink track suit.

UPDATE: The Post reports that Julia Jonhope, 20, returned herself in with the puppy, Luna. Jonhope was charged with petit larceny.
