The reopening comes less than a month before the city’s outdoor pool season ends.

Red Hook residents will soon finally be able to swim in their neighborhood’s outdoor public pool this summer following necessary repairs, according to New York City parks officials.

The Olympic-sized pool has been closed since late June, when officials said a water line broke as workers were filling the pool at the start of outdoor swimming season. The pool is now planned to reopen Sunday, less than a month before the season ends on Sept. 7.

While the pool was being fixed, officials recommended residents use outdoor swimming pools in Sunset Park and Gowanus as alternatives, which are both a mile or more away. The repairs took weeks because the crews had to wait to receive some of the required parts, according to the parks department. Residents were still able to use the spray feature at the Red Hook Pool during the pool closure.

The National Weather Service forecasts high temperatures in the upper 80s Sunday, followed by a cooldown into the upper 70s in the following few days.

The city’s outdoor pools are open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, with usual pool cleaning between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Officials say the pools are inspected at the end of each pool season and at least twice during it.
