One person was killed and at least four others were injured after gunfire erupted in a Bronx park Saturday night, the NYPD said.
Four people were taken into custody, the NYPD said in a statement, but there was no immediate word on any arrests.
Police said they received calls of multiple people being shot around 7:30 p.m. at Burke Avenue and Wickham Avenue near Haffen Park.
Police on Sunday said 32-year-old Jaceil Banks of Summit Avenue in the Bronx died of his injuries.
He was found at the scene with a gunshot wound to chest, and pronounced dead at Jacobi Hospital. Also discovered at the scene was a 17-year-old girl, who was transferred to Jacobi with a gunshot wound to her face. She was in critical condition.
Three other gunshot victims, all in stable condition, were transferred to local hospitals privately: a 30-year-old male arrived at Jacobi with a gunshot wound to his back; a 29-year-old female arrived at Jacobi with a gunshot wound to the back; and a 42-year-old male arrived at Montefiore Hospital with a gunshot wound to his arm.
