Police said the father was brought into the 40th Precinct for questioning after allegedly failing to return the boy.

NYPD dive teams are scheduled to resume searching the Bronx River on Wednesday morning for a toddler who has been missing for more than a month, according to police.
Two-year-old Montrell Williams was last seen on May 10 in the Hunts Point section of the Bronx, wearing a white shirt and a diaper, a police spokesperson said. Officials said he had been with his father for a court-approved visit, but was never returned to his mother.
Police said the father was brought into the 40th Precinct for questioning after allegedly failing to return the boy. While he has not been charged with a crime, correction department records show he is being held on Rikers Island on a family court warrant.
NYPD dive teams began searching the river on Monday after surveillance video showed the father near the water following the missed custody exchange.
At a press conference Tuesday, Mayor Eric Adams said his administration was focused on finding Williams, and added that officials were reviewing how police handled the case.
"We're still unraveling exactly what happened, were proper procedures followed. This was a troubling series of events based on the actions of the dad in handling the child that we need to find out exactly what happened," Adams said. "We're still investigating all actions."
