Multiple crashes on Staten Island and in Brooklyn left a trail of destruction.

Police are investigating a series of crashes overnight.
Police are investigating three separate car crashes that left two people dead and critically injured several others – including a teenager – early Tuesday morning.
The NYPD said officers responded to the first collision around 12:30 a.m. near the Knapp Street exit of the Belt Parkway in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. Officials said a 22-year-old man was driving eastbound in a 2019 Lexus when he lost control and flipped over multiple times with three passengers in the car, ejecting himself from the vehicle.
Emergency medical workers took the driver to NYU Langone Hospital Brooklyn where hospital staff pronounced him dead, according to the NYPD. He was not immediately identified as police worked to notify his family.
All three passengers were also hospitalized: a 20-year-old man with a broken leg, a 22-year-old man with minor injuries, and a third unidentified passenger with two broken legs. They were all in stable condition early Tuesday, police said.
About 20 minutes later, just before 1 a.m., police on Staten Island were called to Castleton Avenue and Park Avenue in West New Brighton where a 13-year-old boy on a motorized scooter was struck by an MTA bus. Police said the 69-year-old bus driver had been traveling eastbound on Castleton Avenue when he hit the teen, who sustained serious head injuries.
First responders took him to Richmond University Medical Center in critical condition, and the bus driver stayed at the scene. Police said they were still investigating the cause of the crash, and had not made any arrests.
Back in Brooklyn, at around 4 a.m., a 2018 Ford Fusion driven by a 35-year-old man collided with a 29-year-old man on a moped at the intersection of Strauss Street and Pitkin Avenue in Brownsville, police said.
The 29-year-old man was ejected and seriously injured, and was later pronounced dead at Brookdale Hospital. The 35-year-old man was not hurt, and police took him into custody at the scene. Criminal charges for him were still pending Monday morning.
Police said both vehicles were heading westbound on Pitkin Avenue, and they were still investigating exactly how the crash unfolded. The man who died was not immediately identified, as police worked to notify his family.
