The car-free program returns this Saturday for five consecutive weekends, with locations in all five boroughs.

New York City’s car-free summer streets program is back, and this time officials say it’s bigger than ever.

For five consecutive Saturdays starting this weekend, the city will ban cars from more than 22 miles of total roadway across the five boroughs — opening streets up for a host of recreational activities from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The closures begin in Queens and on Staten Island this Saturday.

And for the first time in the program’s history, a car-less stretch will run uninterrupted along the length of Manhattan, from the Brooklyn Bridge to Inwood, according to the city Department of Transportation. Those closures kick off Aug. 2 for three Saturdays in a row.

Brooklyn and the Bronx will round out the season with their open streets on Aug. 23.

“Summer Streets reimagines our public space as a shared resource, turning city streets into corridors of movement, culture and creativity,” Transportation Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez said in a statement.

Free activities in this year’s lineup include run-and-walk events sponsored by New York Road Runners, group bike rides from one end of Manhattan to the other, and interactive public art installations. Lyft will provide free Citi Bike day passes with the promo code “LYFTSUMMER25” on the app, according to transportation officials.
