A power outage at the West Fourth Street subway station sparked a commuting calamity on the A, B, C, F and M trains Tuesday morning, according to the MTA — and delays are continuing into the evening rush hour.

A loss of power to the station’s signal system suspended service on the B and C lines in both directions around 8:30 a.m., according to MTA alerts. M train service was also suspended between Delancey Street-Essex Street and Forest Hills-71st Avenue, while F trains were rerouted to the E and G lines and stopped running in Manhattan.

The MTA said they resolved the power outage Tuesday afternoon, but delays persisted on the B, D, F and M trains flowing through West Fourth Street during the evening rush.

The snags came amid sweltering temperatures that reached 96 degrees with a real feel of 99. Passengers at West Fourth Street were visibly hot and bothered.

"It was really annoying to deal with as a whole," said Amil Ramos, 19, after he got off at the West Village transit hub. He estimated his A train trip from 175th Street was delayed by about 20 minutes.

NYC Transit President Demetrius Crichlow said during a news conference the power outage was caused by a “breaker that tripped.”

“Any time there are extreme temperatures like this, it can have an impact, a strain on our system,” Crichlow said. “The entire power system is under a load most times. … Without question, the infrastructure is a part of the problem.”
