NYC is in for a muggy, wet week, meteorologists say

The National Weather Service says there's a chance of showers and thunderstorms over the next several days.

Storm clouds pass over Manhattan on July 3, 2025.

Chances of showers and thunderstorms will hang over the New York City area this week, according to the National Weather Service.

High dew points will also make it feel muggy outside at least Monday and Tuesday, NWS meteorologist Brian Ciemnecki said.

Temperatures will be in the mid-80s Monday, followed by the low 90s Tuesday, and then the 80s again starting Wednesday. The humidity will make it feel even warmer.

Ciemnecki said it will possibly rain throughout Monday, and some storms could be heavy.

"Those chances for rain hang around much of the week, with a frontal boundary that moves across the area on Tuesday and gets stalled south of the area from the middle to the end of the week," he said.

More than 100k people lost power during NYC's heatwave last week. Experts say get used to it.
