Extra Extra: The blue cabs are leaving NYC
Aug. 11, 2025, 2:30 p.m.
Because Revel is pulling out of the city's rideshare game, here are your afternoon links: Nolita dirtbags of the highest order, political drama in Hempstead, white rappers and more.

Good Monday afternoon in New York City, where the Hudson River is cleaner than you think.
Here's what else is happening:
- Federal prosecutors are recommending a year of probation and a $9,500 fine for Erden Arkan, a Brooklyn construction company owner who pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud by using his employees as straw donors to support Mayor Eric Adams' 2021 campaign.
- Parts of Passaic County in New Jersey are in their fourth day of a boil water advisory following a water main break in Paterson.
- Revel is pulling its blue Teslas out of New York City's rideshare game.
- Long Island Democrat Joseph Scianablo, a Marine veteran and former NYPD officer who's running for Hempstead supervisor, is taking heat from his Republican rival over what Scianablo said was a dumb 2008 prank in which his brother went on his Facebook account and posted, "I just s—t myself watching animal porn."
- The crypto investors who rented a $75,000-a-month townhouse in Nolita and threw parties with a bunch of women who work at Brandy Melville allegedly kidnapped and tortured someone to try to steal his coins.
- The Yankees are struggling.
- White rappers are not struggling.
- The Magic Wand has been around for 57 years.
- And finally, not a rat:
This is Row and Mr Jingles. They look a little different and don't have much in common. But like all good friends, still find a way to see eye to eye. 13/10 for both #SeniorPupSaturday pic.twitter.com/FGXjMJOldh
