Driver Wedges Car Underneath NJ Transit Platform, Causing Rush Hour Delays

As you can see in the photos below, it appears the driver plowed through a chain link fence that separates the parking lot from the platform.

There were rush hour delays on New Jersey Transit's Northeast Corridor line after a car somehow wedged itself underneath a platform, blocking the tracks as a train arrived.
The red sedan got stuck under the eastbound NJ Transit platform at the Edison station around 7:15 a.m. on Wednesday. According to Halwa Raj, who took the above photo, officers were trying to figure out "the best way to get passengers on board."
NJ Transit said that three trains had to travel in reverse and use another track to get around the disabled vehicle. Other trains were skipping the station while it was being cleared, with up to 30-minute delays in both directions because of "congestion due to police activity" at the station. The car has since been removed from the station.

NJ Transit added that they were investigating what caused the incident, but NJ Advance reports that someone at the scene said the driver’s gas pedal "apparently got stuck after dropping off a passenger at the station."
One daily NJ Transit commuter who uses the Edison station told NJ Advance she's come to expect such delays: "I just figured another delay, it’s summer time, there’s regular delays for repair work, you get used to it after a while. You always figure something's going to cause a delay."
