Daniel Von Bargen, Who Played Mr. Kruger On <em>Seinfeld</em>, Dead At 64

Daniel Von Bargen, who played George Costanza's boss Mr. Kruger on 'Seinfeld' during a long acting career, has died. He was 64.

Daniel Von Bargen, who played George Costanza's boss Mr. Kruger on Seinfeld and Commandant Edwin Spangler on Malcolm in the Middle during a long acting career, has died. He was 64.

Von Bargen only made four appearances as Mr. Kruger, but left an indelible impression with fans. You can watch some classic Mr. Kruger clips below.

According to reports, von Bargen, who has 85 acting credits listed on IMDB, had passed away "after a lengthy illness." Von Bargen had been battling diabetes for several years, which came to light in 2012 after he attempted suicide and survived. At the time, von Bargen had already lost a leg and was supposed to lose two more toes because of the illness.

Fellow actor and friend Bob Colonna gave this statement about the death: "I feel a huge wave of sorrow and relief at the passing of this remarkable man, Dan Von Bargen. I treasure the years when I worked with him at Trinity Rep and in a couple of TV films. I admire his excellent body of work in the movies. And I mourn for the darkness and pain that were his final years. God bless him. He was a hell of a guy."

In addition to his roles on Seinfeld and Malcolm In The Middle, von Bargen's film and TV credits also include RoboCop 3, Basic Instinct, Broken Arrow, The Majestic, Philadelphia, A Civil Action, Thinner, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Snow Falling on Cedars, Super Troopers, The West Wing, NYPD Blue, and three appearances on Law & Order.
