Casey Anthony Released From Jail, Boards Plane To Unknown Destination

Anthony exited the jail with $537.68 in cash and under heavy guard as around 100 protestors outside screamed "baby killer" and held signs that said "Justice for Caylee" and "Honk For Caylee."

Casey Anthony, the Orlando woman whose acquittal for murdering her two-year-old daughter has enraged the country and sparked legislation to prevent it from happening again, was released early this morning after a judge determined that she had served her four-year-sentence for lying to authorities. Anthony exited the jail with $537.68 in cash and under heavy guard as around 100 protestors outside screamed "baby killer" and held signs that said "Justice for Caylee" and "Honk For Caylee," references to Anthony's daughter who the defense team claimed died after drowning in the family's pool. According to the local Orlando ABC affiliate, Anthony boarded a single-engine plane at 3 a.m., and flew to an unknown destination.

Given her infamy, and that Anthony is a high-school dropout and hasn't held a job since 2006, there is speculation that she will attempt to sell her story for large sums of money, much like OJ Simpson did after his acquittal with the book If I Did It. ABC News reports that one producer has offered her $1 million for her version of events. "She murdered her daughter and now she wants to make millions of dollars off of it," one Orlando bartender who was outside the jail told the Post, "It's insane."

But if she does seek to be compensated for her notoriety, she won't be the only one: jurors have come forth asking for money and vacations from interviews, and Nancy Grace and countless news networks milked every aspect of the macabre trial for ratings. The country's fascination with the trial obviously makes us complicit in Anthony earning money from her ordeal.
