Police say that a 21-year-old Bushwick resident was stabbed to death by his girlfriend's grandfather early this morning.

The incident happened around 2:15 a.m. Sunday morning at an apartment on Broadway between Van Buren Street and Greene Avenue in Bushwick. Victim Kevin Rivera was found with a stab wound to the chest; he was taken to Woodhull Hospital, where he died.

Police say Rivera was involved in a domestic dispute with his girlfriend when her 81-year-old grandfather stepped in and stabbed Rivera with a knife.

The News identifies the grandfather as Nicholas Diaz, and a witness tells them that Rivera has a 1-year-old daughter with the girlfriend. "She says, 'He's dying, He's dying,'" the witness said he overheard. "She said that her grandfather stabbed him."

Police say no arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
