The Southern fast-food chain plans 20 locations across the city over the next decade, with its first spot opening this winter in East Flatbush.

Bojangles, Inc. is a southeastern US-based chain of fast food restaurants, specializing in Cajun seasoning, fried chicken and buttermilk biscuits.

A major Southern food chain known for its chicken, biscuits and tea is coming to New York City.

Bojangles announced plans to open 20 locations across the five boroughs over the next decade and another 35 in New Jersey.

The first NYC location is slated to open this winter in East Flatbush, Brooklyn. The Charlotte-based chain hasn’t had a presence in the city since the 1980s.

“It’s a monumental moment, now that we’re entering the New York metropolitan area again,” Bojangles CEO Jose Armario said in a press release. “The East Coast is craving the authentic, Southern charm that Bojangles delivers, and we’re excited to introduce locals to something new.”

Restaurant owner and operator Habib Hashimi and Hashimi Holding Corporation are leading the chain's expansion in New York as part of a 20-unit franchise agreement.

Bojangles’ return follows a broader trend of nostalgic food brands re-establishing themselves in the city. Papaya King, the Manhattan-based hot dog and tropical drink chain, recently reopened after previously shutting its doors.
