2 killed, 4 injured in Bronx shootings since Sunday evening, NYPD says

July 28, 2025, 10:18 a.m.

Three people were wounded along the Bronx Dominican Parade route on Grand Concourse, while two were fatally shot in Throggs Neck and a sixth was injured in Soundview.

Two men in their 20s were shot and killed outside a warehouse on Brush and Schley avenues in Throggs Neck on July 28, 2025.

Police said Monday they were investigating multiple incidents after a violent 24 hours in the Bronx.

Three people were shot and injured and a fourth was stabbed and injured Sunday evening along the Bronx Dominican Parade route on Grand Concourse shortly after the parade wrapped up, according to NYPD officials. About an hour later, a man was shot and injured in Soundview. And early Monday morning, two men were fatally shot in Throggs Neck.

“Last year when [the parade] happened, there wasn't anything like this, because the police started moving people away after,” Ofelia Aguierre, who works at a flower shop on Grand Concourse, said Monday.

She said her boss told the workers to close the booth at 2 p.m. Sunday because of the possibility of chaos around the festivities. A similar shooting injured someone at Elliot Place and Grand Concourse in 2022 as that year’s parade wound down.

Police said the violence started around 6 p.m. Sunday, when officers responded to gunfire at Elliot Place and Grand Concourse in Concourse Village. Officials said a 24-year-old man was shot in his buttocks and taken to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition, and they were looking for a male suspect wearing a white T-shirt and long pants.

Around the same time, a 19-year-old man was assaulted and stabbed by an unknown person at Marcy Place and Grand Concourse, police said. He sustained lacerations to his buttocks as well as bruising, and the suspect fled on foot.

Less than an hour later, a 19-year-old woman was shot in her ankle and a 19-year old man was shot in his neck at East 170th Street and Grand Concourse, according to the NYPD. Both were taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition, and police did not immediately have a description of a possible suspect.

The Bronx Dominican Parade unfolded Sunday along Grand Concourse from East 167th to 176th streets roughly between 1:30 p.m. and 5 p.m., according to organizers. The annual event celebrates Dominican independence and culture in the city.

By Monday morning, officials said they were still investigating whether these incidents were directly connected to the parade or each other.

“There were a lot of police deployed everywhere,” said Alvaro Luis, who was home Sunday, about a block south of the gunfire. “But there are so many people, and unfortunately they can’t cover everything.”

Bodega worker Virgilio Baez showed Gothamist surveillance footage of a large crowd running away from the sound of shots across the street from his shop on the corner of East 170th Street and Grand Concourse. A number of police officers and NYPD cars appeared stationed near the area both before and after the incident.

The location on Noble Avenue in Soundview where police say a 23-year-old man was found shot and injured on July 27, 2025.

On Sunday night, police said they responded to another shooting about two miles away on Noble Avenue near the Cross Bronx Expressway in Soundview. Officers found a 23-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his buttocks in front of an apartment building, and he was taken to Jacobi Hospital in stable condition.

Police were looking for two men and a woman who fled the scene in a white sedan, according to the NYPD.

Monday morning brought more gun violence to the Bronx, as officials said two men were shot and killed on Brush Avenue next to Ferry Point Park in Throggs Neck around 5:30 a.m. Police said they were Gabriel Alvarez, a 22-year-old resident of Stratford, Connecticut, and Adam Waldropt, a 29-year-old resident of the Bronx.

Both men were taken to Jacobi Hospital and pronounced dead. The NYPD said it was exploring a motive for the shooting and looking for two men who fled the scene on a motorized scooter.

Officials said they were also investigating a shooting that injured a 21-year-old man up the block on Brush Avenue around 3:45 a.m. Saturday. Police said four male suspects fled the scene in a black Durango, but the incident did not immediately appear related to Monday’s fatal double shooting.

Citywide, police data shows shootings and homicides have declined 22% and 26%, respectively, so far this year as of July 20, compared to the same point last year.

In absolute terms, gun violence is up slightly in both the 43th Precinct, which includes Soundview, and the 45th Precinct, which includes Throggs Neck. Meanwhile, shootings have dropped 61% in the 44th Precinct, which includes the area around Grand Concourse where Sunday’s parade took place.

The violence came just hours after Mayor Eric Adams and top NYPD officials touted 3,000 seizures of illegal guns so far this year. Through June, the city had its lowest number of shooting victims ever in a six-month period, authorities said.

Violence has also broken out around other city parades in the past year, but police said those incidents were not directly connected to the celebrations. In June, two teenagers were shot and injured and a third was stabbed and injured after NYC Pride festivities in the West Village, officials said. Last Labor Day, five people were shot at the West Indian Day Parade in Brooklyn, including a 25-year-old man who was killed.
