Police say the shooting stemmed from a fight between rival groups as Pride festivities ended in Greenwich Village.

A teenage boy was arrested for allegedly shooting a 16-year-old girl in the head during a chaotic Pride celebration near the historic Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village last month, the NYPD said Tuesday.
The 17-year-old was arrested near his Staten Island home on Monday, police said. Authorities charged him with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon, officials said.
The arrest comes after two teens, including the 16-year-old girl, were shot, and a third teen was stabbed as Pride celebrations were ending on June 29, NYPD officials said.
NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said the shooting wasn’t connected to the Pride events, but stemmed from a fight between two rival groups.
Kenny said the shots were fired when the 16-year-old girl saw a male rival and tried to shoot him at close range, but missed. The bullet hit another 17-year-old girl unrelated to either group, he said.
As the crowd panicked, the group scattered. That’s when the 17-year-old boy allegedly fired into the chaos, hitting the 16-year-old girl — his friend — in the head, Kenny said.
“ She drops to the floor and she's abandoned by the group,” Kenny said at a press conference after the shooting. “She's left there by herself.”
Authorities on Tuesday said she was still in critical condition and hasn’t yet been charged.
A third teen, a 17-year-old girl, associated with the group was stabbed in the mayhem, Kenny said. Police have not released any further details.
