A $2 million City Council deal will expand seven-day service to more than 30 branches citywide.

More New Yorkers will soon be able to visit their libraries on Sundays.

Starting Sept. 7, 11 more branches across the five boroughs will open seven days a week.

The $2 million expansion, secured in the city budget and championed by City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams, follows last year’s outcry over threatened library cuts.

“Libraries are among our most precious public resources,” Adams said, adding that the funding will help more residents access literacy programs, technology classes and career resources.

The new hours will bring the total number of libraries open on Sundays to more than 30. Library leaders said the expansion comes at a critical time, with attendance rising and demand for services growing.

Expanded Sunday library service will be offered at the following branches:

  • Brooklyn Public Library: Bay Ridge, Bedford
  • New York Public Library: Mott Haven, Baychester, Kingsbridge, Harlem, St. George
  • Queens Public Library: Glen Oaks, Hunters Point, Jackson Heights, Rochdale Village

The additional funding will also allow Queens Library’s Kew Gardens Hills branch to open on Saturdays starting Sept. 13, joining eight other seven-day locations in its system.

Schedules for individual branches will be posted on each library system’s website.
