When Gothamist hears the stories of George Steinbrenner going nuts about the players on the Yankees (and their agents), it makes us appreciate our "normal" bosses that much more. Over the weekend, Steinbrenner, the principle owner of the Yankees, expressed his dislike of Arn Tellem, the agent for Jason Giambi and Hideki Matsui, "We'd like to have the player - bleep the agent." Steinbrenner is upset at Tellem for his role in directing Giambi's press conferences and in his negotiations on a contract for Matsui.
Of course, all of Steinbrenner's ranting about his players reminds us of Larry David's portrayal of The Boss in Seinfeld. And to think that on the show he once said, "chaos does not work for the New York Yankees! Not as long as I'm running the show!" Then again, with Steinbrenner, it's not chaos, just him interfering and meddling in his attempts to get a winning team.
For more Larry David, there's always the 3rd Season of Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Do you have any crazy boss stories that you're willing to share?
