The New Fuku Finger Crunchy Wrap At Mission Cantina Is A Delicious Mess

It's a fiesta in your mouth!

Danny Bowien (of Mission Chinese/Cantina) and David Chang (of Momofuckingeverything) dropped a monster mashup this week with two new dishes hitting their respective menus as of right now.
At the spanking-new Fuku+ in Midtown (it's located in the bar/balcony of Ma Peche), you can order the Mission Chinese Fuku Fingers for $16, which combines Chang's fried chicken—white meat for the first time!—with Bowien's Chongqing spice blend, as well as presumably liberal amounts of chili oil and fried chilies on top. I have not eaten this yet.
Meanwhile, at Bowien's great Mission Cantina on Orchard and Stanton, I did eat what is one of the great new quick-bites of the year, the $13 Fuku Finger Crunchy Wrap, which takes those same white-meat fried chicken strips, adds a pile of stuff like pepper-jack cheese, Russ & Daughters Salmon-Skin Chicharron, pickled jalapenos, lettuce, tomatoes, buttermilk dressing, and spicy honey, then wraps it once in a corn tostada, then again in a flour tortilla, and then the whole wonderful package gets a quick grilling for added crunch outside and meltiness inside.
It's crispy, it's spicy as hell, it's messy, it's a total party in your mouth. Really, really good. And the chicken holds up remarkably well, both taste- and juiciness-wise, under the barrage of ingredients, which is pretty amazing for white meat.
Bonus: each time you buy either dish, $1 gets donated to Edible Schoolyard NYC, a non-profit which offers hands-on gardening and cooking curriculum to area public schools, with the goal promoting lifelong healthy eating habits in children.
