Remember the Sushi Burrito? That was sooooo 2015. In 2017, we must continue the trend of making everything into a donut. This is literally all your fault, Dominique Ansel.

POKEE (emphasis theirs) opened late last year at the tail end of the wave of poke joints that sprung up faster than you could say cold pressed organic green juice...wait, getting my trends confused. The restaurant debuted with a sushi donut that was ultimately removed from the menu. But like an indestructible humanoid cyborg sent from the future, they're back, available as a "secret menu item" at the West 3rd Street restaurant.

The ring-shaped raw fish vehicles are just spicy salmon-filled rice rings, with layers of cucumber, daikon radish, sesame seeds, nori seaweed and bubu arare (baked rice crackers) with either yellow fin tuna, salmon, or yellowtail. Mashable did a deep dive into how the unusually-shaped sushi is made, if you're hungry for more.

I'd have more sass to offer you, dear readers, but a beverage tried to kill me earlier today and I just don't have anything more to give.
